My art education really began with my two years studying at Norwalk Community College. I originally planned on studying graphic design but slowly gravitated towards fine arts. I took graphic design with Tina Blackburn, photography with Joan Fitzsimmons, drawing with Joe Fucigna and Tom Bosket. These teachers encouraged me to continue my education in art. After two years at Norwalk Community College, I transferred to Virginia Commonwealth University where I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in sculpture in 2002.

After graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University, I began exhibiting my artwork, and I had many interesting jobs. I’ve worked on movie sets, substitute taught in the public schools, and in 2006 I was an Americorps member where I taught art in the juvenile prison system. Currently, I’m a graduate student studying sculpture at Syracuse University, and I will graduate in 2009.

It’s a busy time of year. I’m finishing up classes and have graduate reviews coming up. I’m also working on a curatorial project titled Bedtime Stories, which opens this summer, at the Redhouse Gallery. This summer I will be interning at the National Gallery in Washington DC. After I graduate I plan to relocate to New York City. I will continue making art and want to secure work in a museum or gallery.
