This two-year program is designed to help students get on a fast track to
to a professional career.Entry-level through management positions in
today's job market require both a solid foundation of business courses and
extensive business software knowledge.
This degree includes comprehensive courses on the Microsoft Office Suite
and other commonly-used software. This course includes: Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, and Access. It also includes Publisher and Crystal
Reports. Successful completion of this program leads to an Associate
Science degree.
Program Outcomes
1. Employ appropriate administrative office procedures and office
management decision-making and problem-solving skills and techniques.
2. Possess appropriate skills in the following software applications:
operating system, word processing, spread-sheet, database management,
integrated office applications, desktop publishing, presentation graphics,
and other commonly used office software.
3. Develop ad demonstrate leadership, interpersonal, and team
participatory skills for effective interaction with co-workers and clients.
4. Demonstrate a level of mathematical skill appropriate for
employment in a business environment.
5. Read, understand, and prepare standard types of documents with
speed and accuracy.
6. Compose business documents that are clear, concise, complete, and
courteous.
7. Understand and develop skills required in speed dictation of
business correspondence, preparing forms, documents, and transcribed
material.
8. Display a positive "customer service" attitude when dealing with
others regardless of status.
9. Apply communications skills related to the occupation including,
but not limited to, reading, writing, listening, verbal and nonverbal
communication.
10. Demonstrates speed and accuracy in keyboarding skills.
11. Have gained appropriate cooperative education experience in this field.
