Credit Trough Proficiency Exams 

If you have already acquired substantial knowledge in a subject, you may be able to take an exam to receive course credit for what you know.

NCC offers proficiency exams for the following computer-based courses.

What do I have to do in order to take a proficiency exam?

BOT 111 – Keyboarding for Information Processing I
BOT 112 – Keyboarding for Information Processing II
BBG 114 – Business Applications Software

What do I need to bring to the exam?

·        The credit-by examination form, filled out with your personal information and signed by the faculty coordinator

·        A receipt for payment of the testing fee

·        A blank, formatted 3 ½ " disk

What happens after I take the exam?

The proctor will collect all your exam materials and give them to the designated faculty member, Prof. Maryann Schiff.  After evaluating your exam, Prof. Schiff will contact you directly to tell you whether or not you have passed.  Although we will try to let you know promptly, we cannot guarantee results by a certain date.

Some things to note …

·        You may take a proficiency exam in a course only once.

·        If you pass the exam, you receive a grade of  P (pass) not a letter grade (A, B, or C).

·        You may not take a proficiency exam to gain credit for a course in which you were previously enrolled.
