Certificate Program
This one-year program is designed to maximize employment opportunities in
office services. A high concentration of practical skill courses will
prepare students to seek entry-level positions such as records manager,
office assistant, office clerk or data entry keyboarder.
Applicants who have had previous training in keyboarding may qualify for
advanced placement as a result of assessment tests. Regardless of
placement, 27 credits are required for the certificate.
Students deciding to continue for the Associate in Science degree in
Business Technology/Office Administration will find all courses
taken in the certificate program acceptable for the Associate degree at
NCC.Below is a list of courses required for this certificate or degree
program. To print out a checklist of these courses to keep for future
reference, click on the year you began your studies at NCC.
For example, if you are a new student, select 2004-2005. However, if you
started your studies within this program in previous years, click on the
appropriate year since requirements might have changed.

Upon the successful completion of all Business Technology Office
Administration Certificate program requirements, graduates will:
1. Understand and perform office accounting tasks.
2. Employ appropriate office procedures.
3. Possess appropriate skills in the following software applications:
operating system, word processing, spreadsheet, integrated office
applications and presentation graphics and other software appropriate for
the office environment.
4. Read, understand and prepare standard types of business communications.
5. Understand and develop skills required in speed dictation of business
correspondence, preparing forms, documents, and transcribed material.
6. Demonstrate speed and accuracy in keyboarding skills.
