Please note: Photo ID is required at the Front Desk of the Financial Aid Office when inquiring about your Financial Aid Status.
Please be sure to bring your drivers license, State ID or NCC Student ID with you. Parents please be advised that student information including Financial Aid information cannot be given to the parent without the student present or without a signed release form. The purpose of this instructional page is to provide you with the necessary information you need to successfully complete the financial aid application process. We want to be sure that you receive all the financial aid for which you are eligible. Please contact the Financial Aid Office if you have any questions. While NCC accepts applications all year, in order to ensure priority consideration, your application should be completed by:
Norwalk Community College expects you to initiate the application process in a timely manner, and considers it your responsibility to complete the application on time. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. Students and their families should be aware that they are completing applications for federal, state, and college funds. Students are also expected to be familiar with the general provisions of financial aid. Information on financial aid programs, regulations, and procedures are found in the College catalog. Deliberately misreporting can result in criminal and civil liabilities. Late applicants will be awarded on a funds available basis. Application materials cannot be accepted after a student’s last date of attendance.
Important: To apply for aid, first you’ll need an email address and access to the internet. (You do not have to own a personal computer to file your FAFSA on the web.) You can access the internet from computers at the NCC Library, NCC computer labs, NCC’s The UBS Student Success Center and the NCC Financial Aid Office. Many public libraries, high schools, adult education centers and community centers offer access as well.
NCC cannot process your financial aid application until you are accepted in a degree or eligible certificate program. If you’re a new student, apply for admission immediately Online Admissions Application and follow the links under Admissions or call 203-857-7068 for more information.
The office of Financial Aid Service at NCC and the U.S. Department of Education will use e-mail to keep you informed. It is necessary for you to have an e-mail address where you can be reached. If you change your email address please inform the Records office at NCC and The U.S. Department of Education.
If you don’t have an e-mail address you can obtain one for FREE at many websites on the Internet. Some of these sites are:
If you don’t already have a federal student aid PIN, go to www.pin.ed.gov. The PIN will allow you to sign your federal student aid application online, saving you several weeks in processing time. If you must include parent’s information when you complete your federal aid application, your parents will also need to request a federal student aid PIN. If you are not sure whether or not you have a PIN already, you can go to the same website to check. Now that you have an e-mail address, the Department of Education will e-mail you directions on how to obtain your PIN from a secure website. Allow 5 days to secure your PIN from them.
Your PIN serves as your password to access private information on the U.S. Department of Education’s website.
To apply for Federal, State and NCC funds go to www.FAFSA.ed.gov and complete the federal student aid application online. This site has a useful “preapplication worksheet” you may want to print the worksheet out first. You will need NCC’s school code, 001399.
You will need records for income earned in the year prior to when you will start school. You may also need records of your parent(s) income information. For example: For the School year 2008-2009 (Fall and Spring) you would need 2007 information.

Now that you’ve applied for financial aid from the U.S. Department of Education and Norwalk Community College, you can track your financial aid application and award information on the Internet by using the NCC Online student information system: https://my.commnet.edu. Please note: You will need to login using your NetID.
In addition to being able to track your financial aid application online, you will be able to download any documents you may need to complete your application requirements. You can then print out these documents and either mail or drop them off at the Financial Aid Office. To inform you of your application status, we will periodically e-mail you and direct you to visit the online system to check your list of missing documents. You should make sure you log-in to the Online student information system weekly to stay current with your financial aid information and news. If you have changed your email or mailing address please update your information in the Records Office.
When we complete our review of your financial aid application, we will notify you at your email address and direct you to the Online student information system. You will be able to view your financial aid award over the Internet.
Once your financial aid award has been issued, it can be reviewed online. Your use of the student information system allows you 24 hours/day, 7 days/week access to the Financial Aid Office at Norwalk Community College.
