Taught preschool for 12 years, working with children with special needs, curriculum planning, literacy and storytelling. Obtained my National Administrator Credential and Standard Connecticut Directors Credential.
Teaching young children has always been my life's passion. I am fortunate and blessed to be pursuing my dream. When I completed my student teaching at New Canaan Community Nursery School, I was hired to teach the four-year-old class, where I taught for 12 years. Developing, planning, implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum. During this time, I was also the Assistant Director of the program.
I went on to pursue my bachelor's degree. In 2000, I applied and was hired for the Lead Teacher position at the Child Development Laboratory School. While teaching at NCC, I obtained my Master's degree.
I began to teach the literacy strand for our module trainings for CDA. From there I became an adjunct faculty member. I am now teaching Early Childhood Education courses. Teaching adults is also very rewarding, I feel I am giving back and helping to shape our future teachers. During class discussions I use many of my first hand anecdotal examples that I have acquired over my 15 years of experience. I am currently the Director of the Child Development Laboratory School.
I am involved in many Early Childhood Professional organizations and activities. I am a NAEYC member. The National Association for the Education of Young Children governs our field and sets the standards for quality care and education of children.
I serve on our state CAEYC board, as Secretary. I serve on our local SFAEYC, as Vice President and Forum Coordinator. I am a validator for NAEYC, conducting site visits of schools. I am a CDA advisor and TAB trainer for Connecticut 'Charts-a-Course. I recently became a literacy trainer for the STARS project.
My professional career has grown and achieved many levels. I am rewarded everyday.
