NCC wants to help ensure your success by providing a course of study that will fulfill your unique goals and objectives. In order to achieve our goal of helping you attain your objectives, we require that all entering students who do not have previous transfer credits or NCC credits in English and/or mathematics take a placement test.
The results of the placement test will supply you and your NCC advisors with complete information on the current state of your reading comprehension, writing and mathematics skills. These results help us determine which courses may or may not be suitable or appropriate for you. Without this information, it would be difficult for us to accurately gauge which courses may be too easy or too difficult for any student. We want to ensure that you get the most out of your experience here at the college.

The placement test consists of several sections of multiple-choice questions covering English and math.
You will take the test on a computer, but you do not need computer experience. If you are not familiar with using a keyboard and a mouse, you will be given a brief orientation at the time of the test. Throughout the test session a proctor will be present if you have any questions.
Tests are not timed because we want you to give every question as much thought as you need. Students usually take 20 to 30 minutes to complete each section, but you may work at your own pace.
Placement Tests can now be scheduled online, by clicking the button below. In order to sign up for a placement test, you must first submit an application to NCC, with a $20.00 fee, and receive your NCC Student ID (or Banner) number.
