Using the Writing Center

Please read the Writing Center's Policy Statement for more information

Making an appointment:

Although walk-ins are welcome, we do encourage you to make an appointment. To schedule an appointment, please visit the Tutoring Services Center in W110. Sign-up sheets for appointments are on the sign-in desk. Unfortunately, we cannot make appointments over the phone. In order to allow us to serve as many students as possible, we ask you not to sign up for back-to-back appointments.

Canceling an appointment:

If you must miss a scheduled appointment, please call the Tutoring Services Center at 203-857-7205 so that we can give the appointment to another student.

Making the most of your visit:

Please bring with you any written assignment or instructions for the writing you'd like help with, as well as any textbooks, notes, drafts, or other materials. The more information we have about the assignment, the more we can help!

Using our computers and materials:

The Writing Center has computers and a printer for student use. However, we are not an open computer lab, and we do not provide technical assistance. You will need to know your Net ID user name and password to use the Center's computers. You must also provide your own means to save your work: a flash drive or email account.

The Center also has textbooks for most of the College's writing courses and reference materials such as dictionaries, handbooks, and informative handouts for your use.
