In the first year each student writes, shoots, directs and edits 6 films. Produce and Direct 4 Live Television shows. Work as Crew and Talent on as many as 38 or more productions!

The Film and Television Program at Norwalk Community College offers:

  • A two-year Certificate Program in Film and Television. Directing, Producing, Screenwriting, Cinematography, Broadcast Journalism.

  • A two-year Associate of Communication Arts degree with a Film and Television concentration.

 

Each program is structured for students who want intensive training starting their first day of classes; better preparing them for a career in the motion picture and television industries. In the first year of our filmmaking programs each student will write, shoot, direct and edit 6 films. Work as crew and talent on as many as 38 or more productions!

  

For those working in the industry considering learning new skills, we offer short term courses.

  

Gain “Hands-on” “Real Life” experience. Be ready for the most challenging and rewarding experience of your life! Share your passion with others in this unique, diverse and artistic community!

 

 

Phase 1: Com 140: Learn the art of visual communication. Apply the art to an aesthetic film. Write a short film, create a storyboard, define locations, select props, become the director of photography, light the scene, apply cinematography skills, direct, edit, preview and promote the film. Be a guest on a live TV show to promote your work. In addition you will act as crew on up to 18 Live TV shows. Premier all projects on cable TV.

 

Phase 2: Com 143: Learn to produce an Interview program and an Instructional program for Live TV. Create a Music Video and produce and direct the video for a Live Performance on a Live TV program. In addition you will act as talent and crew on up to 60 live TV shows. Premier all projects on cable TV.

  

Phase 3: Com 243: Learn Broadcast Journalism. Become a News Reporter and create news stories and short documentaries. Act as News Director for a 30 min news cast. Act as News Anchor and crew on up to 60 live TV News shows. Premier all projects on cable TV.

 

Phase 4:Com 244: Using the skills learned in the first three phases of production you will produce an Independent Film and a Documentary. Become a guest on a live TV show to promote your work and enter your films in film festivals. Premier all projects on cable TV.
