Yolanda Vasquez-Petrocelli | 30 YEARS OF SELF PORTRAITS 1979–200930 YEARS OF SELF PORTRAITS 1979–2009, an installation by Yolanda Vasquez-Petrocelli opens at the NCC West Campus Community Gallery on Wednesday, September 16, 2009. Chronicling three decades, Vasquez-Petrocelli’s portraits are “geographic interior maps of experiences and feelings.” The artist states “through these images, I try to deconstruct the woman–the path she has traveled, and through memory, I try to unfold the stratas of a distant past that becomes more elusive as the present takes over.” The exhibition, curated by Benjamin Ortiz, and organized by Susan Hardesty, Director of the NCC Art Gallery, runs until Saturday, October 31. A reception, with talks by the curator and the artist will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2009, from 5:30–7:30 pm in the Culinary Arts Dining Room. The gallery hours are Monday–Thursday 9:00 am–9:00 pm, Friday and Saturday 9:00 am–5:00 pm, closed on Sunday. For further information contact Susan Hardesty, Director of the NCC Art Gallery, at shardesty@ncc.commnet.edu or 857-7197.
